It's a Fact

Loretta has been a leader at the Workers Health and Safety Centre and been vocal on promoting sustainable development and ‘green jobs’-jobs that do not harm the environment and workers.

Ms. Michaud has worked in the field of workers health and safety for over 18 years. At the Workers Health and Safety Centre (WHSC) she has been a leader and been vocal on promoting sustainable development and ‘green jobs’-jobs that do not harm the environment and workers.

For the past five years Loretta has coordinated the CAW/WHSC Earth Day in schools. She is an active volunteer with the CAW Durham Regional Environmental Council and was instrumental in developing a Pesticide Free Zone window sign to help educate the community on environmentally friendly pesticide alternatives.

She also volunteers with Great Lakes United (GLU), an international coalition to protect and restore the Great Lakes-St. Lawrence River ecosystem. Though this coalition, Loretta has helped shape policy and developed conferences and communication vehicles to promote the mutual objectives of worker representatives and environmentalists.

She volunteers for the York Region Environmental Forum and Labour Council of Toronto. She is currently tackling hazards posed by polyvinyl chloride (PVC) through education and promotion. A co-worker from the CAW states, “Loretta’s input and commitment to tackle a wide range of environmental issues has brought this organization to the forefront of the environmental movement.”
