Peter Jansen’s boundless and positive energy has been an infectious force on the environmental scene for years. From producing and recording a song - ‘Beautiful Big Lake’ - to his work with poor communities in Kenya, Peter’s environmental vision has been both exhaustive and creative.
15 years ago, Peter accepted the difficult task of coordinating the Edmonton Earth Day Festival, and has since taken the event to the forefront of Canada’s top environmental festivals. Attendance over the years has climbed to a whopping 30,000 people annually, enjoying the environmental display booths and workshop discussions, eclectic musical acts, body-friendly food fairs, and more. It is a well-known fact among all those involved that this festival would not have been possible without Peter's vision and tireless effort.
Mr. Jansen is Alberta’s representative for the Canadian Hunger Foundation, and has also shared his positive vision with our future campaigners, Canada’s youth. He has prepared annual environmental “What You Can Do” packages for over 480 schools in and around Edmonton, and worked closely with elementary schools with hopes of instilling a lasting environmental ethic.
With the ongoing evolution of the Edmonton Earth Day Festival, along with his impact on Edmonton’s school community, we are ensured that Peter's positive outlook will remain influential for many more years to come.
