Friends Uniting Nature Society (FUN Camps)
It’s a Fact

FUN Society facilitates FUN Camps to inspire and empower young Canadians to preserve and protect the environment.

The Friends Uniting Nature (FUN) Society is a charitable organization founded with the mission to inspire and empower young Canadians to preserve and protect the environment through education, leadership and teamwork. The organization focuses on delivering FUN Camps during summer months with a focus on sustainability, leadership and collaboration.

Youth attending FUN Camps are inspired to improve their local environment. One such youth is a 12 year old student who developed her own environmental education website, sent a petition to the provincial government of BC pressuring for an Endangered Species Act, and founded an environmental magazine at her school called Love Our Valuable Earth. The FUN Society also runs a scholarship program for FUN Camps, directed at low-income, indigenous and disadvantaged children.

FUN Camps success is due in large part to the dedication of its volunteers, contributing over 4 000 volunteer hours since 2008, who have doubled participation rates in just two years. FUN Camps also encourages youth to engage their parents on the environmental issues they learn about, promoting conservation, efficiency and lifestyle changes through take home activities and pledges that children and parents sign together.
