Every Day Heroes Film Competition Launched for Earth Day 2010
TORONTO (17/12/09) – Earth Day Canada (EDC), in partnership with Art for Commuters and Onestop Media Group, is calling on filmmakers, young and old, established and aspiring, to submit 90-second silent videos to the Every Day Heroes Film Competition. Video submissions are to tell the story of every day environmental heroes and their dedication to supporting a healthier environment.
“Canadians are doing amazing things to reduce their impact on the environment. In turn, they inspire others to do the same,” said Jed Goldberg, President of Earth Day Canada. “This is an opportunity to showcase the work of these every day heroes and share their stories. We’re very excited to see how Canadians capture the spirit of Earth Day.”
“Art for Commuters is very excited to be adding this unique film competition to the work we produce for the urban public.” said Sharon Switzer, Executive Director of Art for Commuters, “This seems like a perfect way to give artists the chance to address environmental issues.”
During Earth Week (April 17 to 25, 2010), finalists will have their videos screened in Ivanhoe Cambridge Shopping Malls across the country, on the Onestop Network of 270 monitors on the subway platforms of the Toronto Transit Commission, as well as hosted on Earth Day Canada’s YouTube channel and website.
