Toronto, ON (05/01/2012)—Earth Day Canada is looking to bestow scholarships and awards to students, individuals, community groups and small businesses across the country. The goal is to recognize some of Canada's lesser known environmental leaders.
“There are some amazing environmental initiatives happening all across the country," said Jed Goldberg, President of Earth Day Canada. "Each year, we honour these unsung heroes, celebrate their achievements and share their stories while providing them with some financial support. Ultimately they inspire others to take on environmental challenges in their communities.”
The Toyota Earth Day Scholarship Program is recognizing youth by awarding twenty $5 000 scholarships to graduating Canadian high school and CEGEP students. Students must be entering their first year of post-secondary studies and apply by January 31, 2012.
The Hometown Heroes Award Program
is recognizing everyday heroes for their extra-ordinary superpowers in creating greener communities across Canada. Nominations can
be made for individuals, groups and small businesses. Heroes must be nominated by
March 30, 2012.
To apply for the scholarship or nominate yourself, a friend, group or small business from your community for the Hometown Heroes Award Program, please visit www.earthday.ca.
